Experimenting with different styles of collaboration in an attempt at keeping sane and busy in the crazy Covid-19 days!
Just two tracks were recorded and filmed in Sept 2020 in Tel Aviv just before a lockdown!! As the lockdown declaration was literally expected imminently, both were filmed in somewhat of a “panic” – just a couple of takes and with no prior rehearsal or “warm up”!
The session features 90s Israeli Prog Rock cult-hero Yossi Sassi and Sitar Maestro Yotam Haimovitch. Both these amazing musicians are at the top of their game and incredibly generous performers. Pushing boundaries with these great musicians was a hugely enriching experience

‘That’s All’
(Alan Brandt / Bob Haymes) arr. Larry Berkovitz
Filmed by: Yotam Haimovitch, Israel
Produced by: Woodbury Studios, UK
An interesting take on this 1952 standard featuring Oriental Rock pioneer and innovator, Yossi Sassi (Orphaned Land; The Oriental Rock Orchestra). Yossi brings a delightfully mild flavour of the Eastern Mediterranean and skilfully moulds this in a delicate fusion with keys that are firmly in the style of the American Songbook ….. and the vocal somewhere in between … a innovative meeting of worlds

‘Autumn Leaves’
(Joseph Kosma) arr. Larry Berkovitz
Filmed by: Yotam Haimovitch, Israel
Produced by: Woodbury Studios, UK
An eclectic version of this classic with Jazz sitar.
Our take on Autumn Leaves builds slowly from a calm opening to some frantic virtuoso sitar. The slow build up is in typical Indian ‘no rush’ style – it gives the viewer plenty of space and time to “settle in” and “go with it” – and a real feel for the instrument and what it can do !
